Willington Mill is regarded as the scene of one of the most infamous hauntings of the 19th Century.
The building is reputedly haunted by a number of apparitions, including: a Grey Lady; a Lady in Lavender; the disturbing spectre of a woman with empty eye sockets; a cat; rabbit - and a phantom sheep!
A comprehensive account of the haunting can be found in The Haunting of Willington Mill: The Truth Behind England's Most Enigmatic Ghost Story by Michael J Hallowell and Darren W Ritson.
